ADHD Clinic - Coming Soon
YES! we will be providing ADHD assessment and treatment services for enrolled patients. No referral necessary.

Warm friendly assessments with our expert assessors and GPs

From 1 February 2026, changes to ADHD prescribing rules mean some vocationally trained GPs and nurse practitioners can diagnose and start treatment for adults (18+) — including prescribing publicly funded stimulant medicines where clinically appropriate.
At Village Health, a small group of our GPs will be stepping into this important mahi to support patients who have often faced long waits and fragmented care. Please note: private fees apply because this work is not government funded.
We’re also planning to launch a dedicated private ADHD clinic soon — watch this space.
If you already have an ADHD assessment from a psychologist we can assist you with diagnosis and medication if your own GP is unable to do this.

GPs can soon prescribe ADHD medication. Will it fix the problem, or shift the burden? -The Spinoff
Who is this service for?
Adults (18 years and older)
You can access our GP-led ADHD diagnosis and treatment pathway from 1 February 2026.

Under 18s (children and young people)
You can still access support through us, but GPs cannot diagnose ADHD or initiate stimulant prescribing for this age group under the new settings. In many cases you’ll need referral to a Child & Adolescent psychiatrist (public or private). Nationally, some nurse practitioners working in paediatric or child/adolescent mental health services can diagnose and start treatment for under-18s. Using our service can speed up the process for you so we're happy to help.

NOTE: more information coming soon on the process and pricing, please come back to this page in a few weeks time.

Do I have ADHD?
Check out a few of our self-testing resources. Note that these forms don't necessarily confirm or deny a diagnosis of ADHD, they're a screening tool and we may need to talk to you to build up more of a picture. The best one for a quick screen is is the Wender-Utah rating scale - if you score highly in that, move on to the other forms.

1. Wender-Utah Rating scale -this is for an adult to fill out about their childhood- click on the link then the green button for this rating scale. The results will be collated and emailed to you.
2.SNAP forms - fill out the ASRS form for yourself.
3. SNAP-IV Teacher and Parent rating scale - get a parent, partner or other close family member to fill out these forms. You'll need two people to fill one out each. Note these are usually completed by parents and teachers for children but we also use it as a rough indication of the types of symptoms for an adult.

4. Make sure all of your forms have your name, date of birth and address and the parent and teacher forms have the name of the person who filled it out as well as your name and their relationship to you. Email reception at villagehealth.net.nz copies .

ALTERNATIVELY - we can send you the electronic links and the results come back to us (so no admin for you) - (cost $35)
