Above: our team of awesome doctors!
Personal, expert care for babies and children at every life stage — our doctors in Spreydon, Christchurch offer compassionate, GP-led support for all child health issues. We believe children thrive when cared for by doctors and nurses they know and trust. Wherever possible, we’ll book your child with their usual GP to ensure consistent, personalised care.
We have 11 doctors (all female), 8 are GP Specialists with the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners. Dealing with Child Health issues are our bread and butter -read on below to find the right help for your situation.
Acute and Same-Day Child Appointments
When your child is unwell, we’re here every day.
We have dedicated child-friendly acute and infectious spaces for children with coughs, colds, fevers, sore throats, or other contagious illnesses. These rooms are negative-pressure ventilated, helping to prevent the spread of infection and keep everyone safe — patients, families, and staff alike.
Appointments are available every day with a doctor or nurse, and our team will be wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) to provide safe, professional care. We know PPE can look a little strange to children, so our staff always take time to make visits calm and friendly.
If your child is acutely unwell, please call reception on 03 338 8595 — our nurses will triage your call and make sure your child is seen promptly and in the right space.
A Child-Friendly Environment
Our infectious clinic (left) is designed with children in mind — bright, welcoming, and set up to make visits as stress-free as possible. We aim to keep your child comfortable while maintaining the highest infection-control standards, so you can focus on helping them recover.
Wait in your car in the carpark outside and we'll call you in for your turn, no sitting in the waiting room sharing bugs! Also enjoy a quick getaway after your appointment!

Nurse-lead Services
Our Nurses – Here When You Need Us Most
If you’re after phone advice you can call Healthline on 0800 611 116 for free 24/7 support from a registered nurse. Phone us only if you’re wanting to book an appointment — our nurses will assess how urgently your child needs to be seen and find the right time and space for your visit.
We understand that having a new baby or a sick toddler can be worrying, and our nurses are here to support and reassure you through those moments. Our nurses are the friendly, knowledgeable voices you’ll often speak to first. They provide expert triage and phone advice, helping you decide whether your child needs an appointment or can be safely cared for at home. They also provide vaccinations, before school checks, help with challenging behaviours, and advice for eczema, minor rashes and everyday health concerns.
We Love Your Teenagers!
We love your teenagers — truly! Navigating this stage of life can be challenging for them (and for parents too), and we’re here to help. Our team provides confidential, respectful care for young people every day, including contraception, sexual health, behavioural concerns, and mental wellbeing. We actively encourage teens to see their GP on their own when they feel ready — it’s a great way to build confidence, resilience, and self-management skills for the future. Our doctors and nurses are experienced in supporting teens with empathy, expertise, and zero judgment — helping them feel safe, heard, and empowered as they grow into adulthood.
Confidentiality – For Teens and Parents
It’s important for both parents and young people to know that what your teenager discusses with their GP is confidential. This means they can speak openly about their health, emotions, and worries without fear of being judged or misunderstood. Our goal is to build trust so that teens feel safe asking for help early — whether it’s about stress, relationships, or health concerns. We always encourage open communication within families, but also respect a young person’s right to private, age-appropriate healthcare. Parents can be reassured that our doctors take every step to keep teens safe, supported, and guided with care and professionalism.
If you’re unsure how confidentiality works for young people, just ask — our team is happy to explain how we balance privacy, trust, and safety in teen healthcare.
