Your Skin Deserves a Closer Look

We’re excited to introduce SkinScope at Village Health — our dedicated skin cancer service focused on the prevention, early detection and ongoing surveillance of melanoma and other skin cancers.
A SkinScope appointment provides a comprehensive full-body skin check, including dermoscopy to examine spots and lesions more closely. Skin checks are particularly important if you have had a previous melanoma or other skin cancer, have lots of moles or spots, a family history of melanoma, or have spent many years working or enjoying life outdoors.
Regular skin surveillance can help identify new or changing lesions early, when skin cancers are generally easier to treat.
Look after the skin you're in
Good sun protection is one of the most important things you can do for your skin. Dermatologist Dr Aaron Secrest from Medical Secrets recommends making sun protection part of your everyday routine. Sunscreen is important, but don't forget the basics — shade, a wide-brimmed hat and sun-protective clothing can provide even better protection and don't need to be reapplied. Choose a sunscreen you actually like using, so you're more likely to use it regularly, and remember that sun protection isn't just about preventing sunburn — it's about reducing the cumulative UV damage your skin receives over your lifetime.
