Children Prescriptions:
In April 2026, we have had to introduce prescription fees for children due to the chronic underfunding for under 14s. The new pricing was introduced April 1st 2026 and has been updated on our website as well as in clinic on this date as well.
Generally, the costs are 50% less than the full cost of a prescription fee for those 17 years +.
Please note:
Prescriptions are not classified as first-level services within general practice and are therefore not covered by capitation funding. This can sometimes make the cost seem unusual, as in certain cases a prescription may be more expensive than a face-to-face appointment. The fee reflects the clinical time required to review your records, ensure the medication remains appropriate, and generate the prescription, regardless of the patient’s age.
