The Energy Healing Experiments
One of the quotes from Gary Schwartz' book “The Energy Healing Experiments”
states that:
"Man’s mind, once stretched by a new idea, never regains its original dimensions."
I have been giving myself healing and loving intent for the last four days. I believe it might be having an effect. The fact that I have started doing this now makes me wonder what I was doing before! Gary’s book has enabled me to consider the possibility that I may exist as energy and light, and that I may be affecting others with my energy, and that others may be affecting me. Previous to reading Gary’s book, I guess I considered myself to be something of a cardboard cutout at the whim of the external world around me.
Gary’s experiments provide evidence for the existence of energy in many of the things that I have been extremely dubious about, and I was happy to read that he was doubtful, too. He is totally allowing of scepticism throughout the book, and just describes his findings and gives us a framework from which to judge the findings by. Gary has conducted science experiments on human electromagnetic fields, crystals, light/photon emissions, electromagnetic effects of Reiki and other healing modalities, detecting people’s intentions, and other effects of energy healing when given by master healers. The experiments, whether I accepted them or not, all provided enough evidence for me to consider new ways of thinking, acting and seeing.
The main reason I started giving myself healing intent was because I understood from his book that, at the least, it wouldn’t hurt, and at most, it could even enhance my healing. Gary conducted an experiment on E Coli (helpful bacteria in our gut). First it was heat stressed and then Reiki healers gave the bacteria healing. In some cases the bacteria’s health improved, in others it worsened. Gary was confused about this, until he checked the well-being surveys completed by the healers before they began the experiment. The healers who were stressed before the experiment had a negative effect on the bacteria. Aside from that though, after giving Reiki, the healers always recorded feeling better on their post-experiment surveys.
Gary ran another test: in order to boost the well-being of the fourteen healers involved on the study, each Reiki healer gave Gary’s friend, who had sprained her ankle, a 15 minute healing before giving Reiki to the E Coli bacteria. In this case the bacteria improved in every case. The experiment did show less improvement for the healers who recorded higher levels of stress when they began the experiment (even after the healing given on the sprained ankle).
This is just one experiment of many which opened the doors of my mind enough to allow the possibility of the potential and existence of energy in the world I live in. He also details ways in which we can all become more aware and improve our abilities to sense energy. His book has left me with the certainty that my mind has been expanded. And I am now anticipating the results of my own home-grown experiments. He shows very clearly that there is sooo much more than meets the eye, and I now feel some expectation about the chances of me seeing it, or at least feeling it.
